Pierre Mendelsohn: Founder, CEO
Pierre founded ALPIMA in October 2014 to give professional and institutional investors a new investment experience -- high-quality personalized investing that can scale.
An engineer at heart, Pierre is passionate about science and technology and how they can make finance better for investors. Before founding ALPIMA, Pierre spent two decades on the trading floors of leading investment banks in New York, London and Hong Kong working in management, sales, product development, structuring and risk analysis.
Along with his teams, Pierre has launched numerous investment products and systematic strategies which raised billions of dollars from institutional and HNW clients globally.
Before creating ALPIMA, Pierre was a Managing Director with Morgan Stanley for four years, as head of pan-Asia equity derivatives distribution, financial engineering, and QDS (Quantitative & Derivatives Strategies) based in Hong Kong, and as previously Global Head of Retail Structured Products based in London. Previously he was a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch where he worked for eleven years. Among other things, he ran and scaled Merrill INVEST, Merrill’s securitised products platform in EMEA from 2005 to 2010. Previously Pierre worked in Global Markets and Risk Analytics with Bankers Trust in London & New York, and as a management consultant with Oliver Wyman in New York.
Pierre holds an M.S.E. in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering majoring in Applied Mathematics from Princeton University and an MS in Engineering / Computational Fluid Dynamics from INPG, France. He lives in London with his wife and three children. Marathon runner, instrument-rated pilot and aviation fan.
Ilan Heimann: Head of Sales and Partnerships
Having spent the last two decades in the asset management industry, Ilan is passionate about simplifying investment solutions.
Before joining ALPIMA in November 2015, Ilan was an SVP at PIMCO for over eight years, most recently as Account Manager and Business Developer for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, covering institutional clients. Prior to that he ran PIMCO’s EMEA Structured Product offering and created PIMCO’s Advisory Business, assisting institutional clients across EMEA in dealing with the aftermath of the financial crisis. Previously, Ilan worked for over eleven years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, in various roles in equities, fixed income and alternative investments. Throughout his tenure he was, amongst other things, responsible for establishing GSAM’s European Equity Risk Management effort, an Equity portfolio construction framework for global equity portfolios, and assisting institutional clients in creating bespoke multi-asset investment solutions.
Ilan holds an MSc in Business Finance from Brunel University and studied Business Administration at Saarland University, Germany, and is a CFA® charterholder. He lives in London with his wife and two children. Keen skier and cyclist.
David Baverez: Entrepreneur, Investor, ex Fidelity manager
David worked with Fidelity Investments for ten years from 1995-2005 in London and Boston managing European Equities, including the award-winning Fidelity European Aggressive Fund.
In 2005, he set up his own company, KDA Capital, a long-only European Equity fund.
He is involved in several entrepreneurial start-ups and is actively trying to understand the emergence of the post-crisis New World. He recently published his first book "Generation Tonique".
He is a graduate of HEC and holds an MBA from INSEAD. He lives in Hong Kong.
Pierre Cuilleret: Entrepreneur, Investor
Pierre is a highly-experienced entrepreneur with global expertise in industries including retail, telecommunications, technology & entertainment.
In 1996 Pierre co-founded The Phone House in France which later became part of The Carphone Warehouse Group PLC, listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2000.
Pierre then became CEO of Micromania, SVP of GameStop, Board member of DIA (until 2016) and currently serves on the board of Desigual.
Pierre brings to the Firm unique insights into building a business from the ground-up, growing it rapidly while maintaining operating discipline.
Alston Zecha: Director, Eight Roads
Alston works for Eight Roads, the proprietary investment arm of Fidelity International Limited, and an investor in ALPIMA Ltd. His role at Eight Roads focuses on assessing early-stage investment opportunities in the FinTech industry.
Previously Alston has worked at Citigroup, Bain & Company and APAX before co-founding the FinTech payments start up, Payleven, in 2012.
He is a graduate of Oxford University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
